Celebrating

“The Legacy of the Canadian Ukrainian Athletic Club (CUAC) – 100 YEARS”  1925-2025

Friday, September 19, 2025: At the Sinclair Park Community Centre, 490 Sinclair Street, a celebration of time will be held, of many years, friendships, and shared stories. Little did we know as youngsters that the local community club would become a harbor light for so many in Winnipeg’s North End. While we have attended a variety of joyous occasions it occurred to me that one “hub” became so much to so many, which began with the inception of CUAC in 1925. The men and women who created the Canadian Ukrainian Athletic Club provided a vision to young people, encouraging them to be active and get involved in their community. They became leaders, players, coaches, and volunteers that we are very grateful.

Through its growth, CUAC became synonymous with Sinclair Park Community Club and then participating partners in the 70’s, like the Canadian Polish Athletic Club (CPAC) playing a vital support role. Today, it’s Sinclair Park Community Centre at the very same location – 490 Sinclair Street.

To celebrate and acknowledge the forefathers of CUAC to the present leaders, we have planned a festive day to provide a variety of memorabilia. A look at the past through photos, trophies, old jerseys, and a variety of other things. An exhibit and presentation will be held on two occasions.

Session I: The afternoon session will begin at 1:15 p.m. and run through 4:00 p.m. with local Grade 5 & 6 students, Alumni of CUAC, CPAC, and SPCC, and guests. We will be presenting the early years of this North End community leading to the present, along with old photos, trophies, and other memorabilia.

Session II: The evening session will open the doors at 6 p.m. with a special program beginning at 7:00 p.m. This will include a variety of features and entertainment besides the joy of socializing with former alumni. The session will close at 10 p.m.

We are pleased to provide light refreshment of cold cuts, rye bread, condiments, and pickles along with soft drinks, water, tea, coffee, and juices.

Thank you for your active participation in our community event, celebrating 100 years.
